Slovenian community

Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania and Norway were not traditional destinations of economic migrations from Slovenia. As a result, there is only a small Slovenian ethnic community presently living in these countries on a permanent basis. With accession of Slovenia to the European Union the number of Slovenian citizens in these countries is gradually growing, mainly due to numerous exchange students who choose to study in other EU and EEA countries under the framework of the European Community programs encouraging transnational cooperation between universities.
