Welcome on webpages of Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Denmark.
After the closure of Slovenian Embassies in Sweden and Finland in 2012, we are the only Slovenian Embassy in the area of Nordic region. Embassy in Copenhagen, which is located in the central part of Copenhagen at Amaliegade 6, is beside Denmark also responsible for four Nordic countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland as non-resident Embassy.
The Embassy is from 12 August 2013 lead by me, Ambassador Tone Kajzer, after I have handed over a copy of the credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
The area which is covered by the Embassy of Slovenia in Denmark is larger than 3.5 million square kilometres and has a total of more than 23 million inhabitants. At the same time the total gross domestic product of Nordic-Scandinavian countries ranks an impressive eight place in the world, reflecting the tremendous socio- economic potential of the region, both within Europe and beyond.
Slovenia has since it’s independence in 1991, established diplomatic relations with Denmark and with all other countries within the Nordic-Scandinavian region and has in the last 20 years achieved an enviable level of cooperation on all fields. In recent years we have had many visits at the highest political level. In the last period there were the visits of the Norwegian King in Slovenia, State visit of Slovenian President to Finland, official visits of the President of Slovenia in Iceland, Estonia and Lithuania, and the visits at the level of the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia to Denmark, Finland and Estonia. Slovenia has developed high political dialogue at all levels with all countries of accreditation of the respective Embassy in Copenhagen. Developing are also economic relations and cooperation in other areas such as education, culture and science.
On our web page you will find also a brief presentation of the Nordic-Scandinavian region and description of Slovenia’s relation with the countries of accreditation, together with the main priorities of the work of Embassy, including in particular support for further development of economic cooperation and strengthen ties with Slovenians living and working in Denmark and in the Nordic- Scandinavian region.
Let me assure you that I will - during my term between 2013 and 2017, for which I am appointed to the office as an Ambassador to Denmark - strive to expand the network of qualified and pro-active honorary consuls in all countries of non-resident accreditation. One of my priorities is also the maximum engagement in strengthening of the concrete forms of cooperation with the Slovenian community in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and other regions, where our compatriots live and work. In my experience from Finland, where we have established the Association of Slovenian Parents, Slovenian expatriates wish to be in more intensive contacts with Slovenia.
Taking all these substantive priorities and the specific commitments that the Embassy will pro-actively and inclusively work on all the activities and projects, that will strengthen Slovenian cooperation with the Nordic-Scandinavian region, I look forward to work, and invite all of you, visitors of our web-site to contact us via our e-mail sloembassy.copenhagen(at)gov.si, with your suggestions and ideas, or to visit us at our Embassy, that is located in the very hart of Copenhagen, near Royal Palace, at Amaliegade 6.
